Ohio Junior Development Program

Purpose: To promote the sport of waterskiing to Boys/Girls age 17 and under and to provide resources to improve their skills.

Ohio has a very strong waterskiing history.  In 2009 alone, Ohio boasts:

• 5 National Champions
• 38 Top Ten National Finishes
• 5 new Midwest Records
• 5 of 16 Skiers on the Midwest Junior Elite Team are from Ohio
• 4 of the 7 Midwest All-Star Team
• Midwest All-Star Team took Silver at Nationals for the first time ever 
• The UC Water Ski Team qualified for Nationals for the 2nd time ever

As a good portion of competitive waterskiers no longer ski on public waterways, the majority of the youth in Ohio have had very little exposure to the enjoyment and possibilities that exist in the sport of waterskiing.  Additionally, even those that have been exposed to the sport have limited tournament knowledge and limited knowledge as to the possibilities that exist in the sport including local, regional, national, collegiate, and world events.  The Ohio Junior Development program hopes to bridge this gap by providing information to our young waterskiers and provide clinics to improve their skills.

OHIO ELITE JUNIOR TEAM

The Ohio Elite Junior Team is comprised of Ohio junior skiers in the Boys 2, Girls 2, Boys 3 or Girls 3 division that ski at the previous Regionals or Ohio Boys 1 and Girls 1 skiers that ski at the previous Nationals.  Skiers selected will be eligible to participate in any Ohio advanced junior development clinics and/or receive clothing to commemorate this distinction.
