TOUR STOP #5

Extreme Head-to-Head

Extreme Watersports Center - Cincinnati, OH
August 29th - 30th, 2009

 ***ONLINE REGISTRATION***

THE FORMAT

The Extreme Head-to-Head tournament is back for 2009 as Tour Stop #5 of the Buckeye Buoy Tour!  With a head-to-head bracket of 30 to 50 skiers (NCAA style), each skier will ski against an opponent to see who can post the highest score against their average buoy count.  With the losers going to a loser's bracket, each skier will be guaranteed two rounds with the possibility of 5 should they advance through the bracket.

SCORING

  • Skiers will be ranked 1 thru 50 based on average buoy count (from rankings list).  #1 seed will ski against #2, #3 vs #4, etc.  This will allow skiers to go head-to-head against skiers of a similar ability level for at least the first couple rounds.
  • Each Head-to-Head matchup must agree upon an equal starting speed and/or line length so that each skier reaches their "average" speed/line length on the same pass.  If skiers can not come to an agreement, then 3 Full Passes below the average speed/line length will be used.  In this case, if your average is 2 @ 35 off 34 mph, your starting length would be 22 off 34 mph.  Remember, this is based on your average buoy count, so if "Skier A" has an average of 2 @ 34 mph and "Skier B" has an average of 4 @ 32 mph, then "Skier A" would need to have a starting speed 2 mph faster than "Skier B".  Skiers in the Elite 8 MUST start 2 passes below their average, skiers in the Final 4 and Finals MUST start 1 pass below their average (in both brackets).
  • Skiers will go head to head. Lower seeded skier going first.  Each running their opening pass, then 2nd pass, etc. (Each skier can elect to ski until they fall/miss.)
  • If two boats of the same brand are not available for the round, the first skier off the dock will use the first boat back to the dock.  (This rule is to help eliminate down time)
  • Although you're skiing head-to-head, the ultimate winner will be the skier with the best buoy count compared to his average.  Because of the seeding, you will be skiing against a similar ability level for at least your first two rounds.  Because of the agreed upon starting speed, both skiers will be on their average pass at the same time.
  • The losing skier in the first round (and possibly the second round) shall move to the loser's bracket. (Every skier is guaranteed 2 rounds, most will get at least 3)
  • The winning skier shall move on in the winner's bracket.
  • All rounds of competition will be scored towards your AWSA rankings.
  • Trick & Jump will be scored seperately for Tour purposes, however overall scores will be compiled for AWSA.
