Extreme Hootenanny
Cincinnati, OH
June 28th, 2008
***ONLINE REGISTRATION***
The Extreme Hootenanny is going to have a NEW format for 2008. Not only will we be rocking our standard 3 round, 3 event Pick & Choose, but the tournament is now going to be a TEAM COMPETITION! Here is how it works:
-
35 Skiers make up 7 teams of 5 people
-
-
Each team will have skiers of ALL ability levels from the top seeds to the bottom seeds
-
Skiers who choose to trick and jump will score towards their teams points also.
-
RUNNING ORDER will be: Trick first then Jump then Slalom last
-
Skiers will be scored based on a percentage of their average score. If a skiers National Ranking Average is 50 buoys and they score 50, then their score will be 100%. If that same skier scores 48 buoys, then their score will be 96% for that round. Any individual score can not be higher than 110%. If a skiers Average is 20 buoys and they run 25 buoys, their average will be recorded as 110% and their new average for the following round will be 25 buoys.
-
After each round, all team members scores will be averaged together for the total Team Score. The average of ALL 3 rounds will determine the winning team.
-
The lowest individual score per team will be dropped each round. So only the Top 4 scores will count towards the teams average.
-
If a skier skis over his average, then that score becomes his new average for the next round. (For example, if a skiers average is 3 @ 35 off 34 mph and he runs 5 @ 35 off, then 5 @ 35 off becomes his new average for the remaining rounds unless he improves on that score again.)
-
IF TIME BECOMES A FACTOR going into the final round of slalom and the Chief Judge feels that there is not enough time to complete an entire round, then each team will choose one person to sit out the final round. If the team can't come to a unanimous decision on who will sit out, then the person with the lowest slalom score (percentage) in the previous two rounds must sit out. No person who did not slalom in the first two rounds can sit out. Same rules apply if the Chief Judge feels that more than one person needs to sit out per team due to time restraints.
-
Every skier is guaranteed at least 2 rounds of skiing and will most likely get 3 rounds
-
In the scenario that any skier is forced to sit out or voluntarily sits out the round, the team will not be penalized for that skiers absense, and the lowest score of the remaining skiers will still be dropped.
-
For clarification on any rules, see the Tournament Director.
