Top junior water ski athletes from across the nation have been selected to the National Junior Water Ski Team and the National Junior Development Water Ski Team for 2008. The selections, decided upon by the American Water Ski Association’s Junior Development Committee and International Activities Committee, are based upon tournament performances during the 2007 tournament season.
Selected to the 2008 National Junior Development Water Ski Team were: Steven Brooks (Canyon Lake, Calif.), Briant Detty (Danville, Ind.), Brittany Greenwood (Little Rock, Ark.), Samuel Greenwood (Little Rock, Ark.), Carli Guyer (Pierson, Fla.), Makayla Haw (San Mateo, Calif.), Alison Lindy (Circle Pines, Minn.), Tyler Lorenz (Pewaukee, Wis.), Kara MacIntyre (Knoxville, Tenn.), Keri McClure (Van Wert, Ohio), Haywood McDonald (Fayetteville, N.C.), Mason Mechler (Milford, Ohio), Alberto Mejia (Miami, Fla.), Elizabeth Montavon (Dixon, Ill.), Lauren Morgan (Odessa, Fla.), Mitchell Novlan (Redding, Calif.), Alexis Pickos (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.), Alston Roberson (Cartersville, Ga.), Dylan Schaffer (Owens Cross Roads, Ala.), Andrew Schmitt (Mount Vernon, Ind.), Zachary Schneider (Powell, Ohio), Michael Stevenson (Gilbert, Ariz.), Julia Waitt (Clermont, Fla.) and Nikki Waitt (Clermont, Fla.).
Many of these outstanding junior athletes will compete for a spot on the 2008 U.S. Junior Water Ski Team at the U.S. Water Ski Team Trials, June 27-29, in Van Wert, Ohio. The U.S. Junior Water Ski Team will represent the United States at the Junior Water Ski World Championships, Jan. 5-9, 2009, in Lima, Peru.
