Shortline Pick Your Poison

Shortline Shores - St Marys, OH
July 3rd-4th, 2010

THE FORMAT

Pick Your Poison is an all new format for 2010.  Spawning from the mind of Greg Kuenning, creator of the Buckeye Buoy Tour, Pick Your Poison will bring a never before used element of individual CHOICE to the event.  In other formats, you're assigned who you will be competing against, but in Pick Your Poison, some skiers will have the opportunity to choose who their competitors will be, giving them the chance to pick a skier who they feel can most easily be taken down!

The first round of the event will start with a seeded running order not unlike other Buckeye Buoy Tour Stops, however the TOP seeds will go off the dock first.  Based on seeding, skiers will be paired up in head-to-head competition with one other skier.  The winning skiers from round one will automatically advance to the next round and will have earned their right to CHOOSE who they will ski against in round 2.  The losing skiers from round 1 will be sent into a "pool" of skiers.  Starting with the highest seeded winners from round 1, each winner will choose a skier from the pool that they want to match up head-to-head against in round 2.  The same process from round 2 will take place for round 3.  Once you win two rounds, you're automatically qualified for the FINALS in round 4.  Once you lose two rounds, you're done for the day!  A skier could win round 1, lose round 2, and then round 3 would determine if they go home or if they move to the FINALS.  A skier who wins the first two rounds will be bounced directly to the FINALS and will not ski round 3 and likewise a skier who loses the first two rounds will be done for the day.  Every skier will be guaranteed two rounds of slalom with the potential for four rounds.

SCORING

  • Skiers will be scored against their average in all rounds.
  • You can not choose to ski against someone that you ski against in a previous round.
  • Any ties for 1st place thru 3rd place in the finals will be settled with a run-off starting at the skiers last full pass.
  • No runoffs during qualifying, the 2nd skier off the dock must beat the 1st skier off the dock.
  • Trick & Jump will be scored seperately for Tour purposes, however overall scores will be compiled for AWSA.
