Ewald Wins Head-to-Head

Pat Ewald of Extreme Watersports Center took home the Gold Fin Firkin at the 2010 Extreme Head-to-Head.  The Head-to-Head closed out the second season of the Buckeye Buoy Tour with a Head-to-Head record, 47 skiers, over two days.  Extreme Watersports Center was forced to run two lakes to get over 130 finished for the day.  The Final Four skiers in the Winner's Bracket came down to Jason Anderson vs Pat Ewald and Justin Ady vs Curtis Kolb.  Ewald and Ady advanced to the finals where Ewald ran a season best .5 buoy @ 32 off for the win.  Debbie Kern of Skiers Runway won the Last Chance Bracket for a 5th place finish on the day.  On top of a 5th place finish, Kern also set a new W5 State Record of 3.5 buoys @ 28 off 32 mph, last set by Mary Lambert in 2007 with 1 @ 28 off.  Nate Smith of Indiana, the top seed of the day, put up the largest scores and new lake records with 2 @ 41 off 36 mph in the first round and 3 @ 41 off 36 mph in the second round!  Kyle Dammeyer of Shortline Shores was just one buoy shy of the 25 year old M1 State Slalom Record of 4 @ 38 off 36 mph.  The Head-to-Head played host to 12 different skiers participating in their first tournament ever!

Extreme ran two lakes all day for trick and jump on Sunday. Kyle Dammeyer finished off a great season of trick skiing with a new personal best 2,320 points and the win in trick.  Nick Perrino took home his 9th top 3 Buckeye Buoy Tour finish taking 2nd in trick and Laura Boehm rounded out the top 3.  Laura Boehm wasn't calling it a day with tricks however, two solid rounds gave herself the win in jump followed by Kyle Dammeyer in 2nd and Mason Mechler who had the top jump of 124 feet on the day taking 3rd place.

Eric Kolb on Top of the BBT

Eric Kolb clings to a 15 point lead over Jacklyn Woniger heading into the final stop of the Buckeye Buoy Tour this weekend and Riley Daulton is just 15 points behind Woniger in 3rd place!  Sitting in 4th through 7th and seperated by less than 50 points are Leslie Kolb, Kristen Dammeyer, Jason Anderson, and Kevin Dammeyer.  Be on the lookout for some stiff competition this weekend at the Extreme Head-to-Head!

In trick, Kyle Dammeyer leads the field by 40 points over his brother Kevin Dammeyer who sits just 10 points ahead of Riley Daulton in 3rd place.  Andrew French and Jon French follow closely behind in 5th and 6th.  Riley Daulton is way out in front in the jump event by 80 points over Jon French and Madison Schneider who are tied for 2nd place.  Kyle Dammeyer and Greg Kuenning round out the top 5 for jump.

Riley Daulton is in the top 3 in all three events putting her at the top of the field in the race for the first ever OVERALL title!  Kyle Dammeyer, Madison Schneider, Greg Kuenning, and Jon French round out the Top 5 in overall.

McClure, Fischer and Holmes win National Championships!

The 7th and final day of The 68th annual GOODE Water Ski National Championships at Waters Edge in Wilmington, Ill is now in the books and Ohio has 3 more National Champions! Keri McClure of Van Wert Ohio won the W1 Slalom Championship with 5 @ 35 off while Kayla McClure ended up 5th with 3 1/2 @ 32 off.  Patricia Fischer of Barberton Ohio won the W8 Slalom Championship with 4 bouys at 30 mph long line.  Pat also took home the W8 overall Championship with 1072 NOPS points.  Chuch Holmes of Westerville won the M8 slalom Championship by skiing 1 @ 38' off.  Check out how Ohio skiers are doing by clicking the more button below

Ruehl and Fischer win National Trick Championships

Day 6 of The 68th annual GOODE Water Ski National Championships at Waters Edge in Wilmington, Ill is now in the books and Ohio has 2 more National Trick Champions! Samanth Ruehl of Harrison Ohio won the W1 Trick Championship with score of 4150 pts while Keri McClure of Van Wert finished 3rd with a score of 3070 points.  Pat Fischer of Barberton Ohio won the W8 Trick Crown with a score 940 pts.    Chuck Holmes of Westerville Ohio placed 3rd in M8 trick with a score of 910 pts.  Check out how Ohio skiers are doing by clicking the more button below

Libby Van Treese National Champ!

Day 5 of The 68th annual GOODE Water Ski National Championships at Waters Edge in Wilmington, Ill is now in the books and OHIO has their first National Champion of the Tournament!  Congratulations to Libby Van Treese for winning her 5th National Championship in a row in Tricks!  The weather in Wilmington has been great so far and viewing condition have also been great, with most of the skiers and spectators hanging out between the lakes where they can walk back and forth 20 feet to check out either the slalom action or trick and jump.    Check out how Ohio skiers are doing by clicking the more button below.

Ohio Wins the Team competition at Regionals!

In past years at Regionals, Ohio seemed to be leading the State Competition at regionals after day two and then another state would come on strong on the last day and snatch the lead away from us.  Not this year!  Ohio finished first with 13901 NOPS points followed closely by Illinois with 13733 NOPS points.  Finishing third was Michigan with 12922.  The state competition is decided by taking the top 4 NOPS points in each Event from each state.  Kayla McClure has to be the MVP of team Ohio, earning 3211 NOPS points by placing in the top 4 in each event.
